So what is The HUSL?

The HUSL is a NFT music marketplace allowing musicians to interact with their fans across the world. The HUSL’s aim is to give the power back to creatives in order to let them interact on their own terms and skip as many intermediaries as possible.

The music industry is broken and artists are the one who have suffered as a result. The HUSL’s mission is to change that and we will through the use of NFTs and blockchain technology.

How The HUSL works?

Here’s how it works. You’re supposed to be working on your laptop, but you’re getting distracting, scrolling through up-and-coming artists on platform that closely resembles Spotify or YouTube Music. Artists’ names, photos, bios, and album artworks are listed beside their new and top releases. You’re going down a rabbit hole because there’s something about this young Icelandic DJ you can’t get out of your head. Her beats are innovative, hypnotic, addicting; you’ve been playing her latest track on loop to get through the day. You favorite the song, text it to a few friends who share your taste in music, and follow the artist on Twitter, but you’re not satisfied. You enjoy listening to the artist, but it’s more than that: you want to see what she does next. You know in your gut that she’s going places, and you want to be one of the people who gets her there.

You click on her profile, and there it is: an unreleased track packaged as a non-fungible token, or NFT, a unique encrypted file that will belong only to you. When you purchase the song using Ethereum, you gain ownership of the artist’s unreleased track, but you also become a stakeholder in that artist’s career. Your purchase isn’t a donation, and it doesn’t just fund her career’s growth — her career’s growth increases the value of your purchase. When her following expands, when her tracks top charts, when her face appears in music publications, the value of that NFT you purchased grows. In this way, music NFTs intertwine artists and fans, solidifying the bond between musicians and their listeners.
